Mexico: Pemex suffers cyberattack
After rumours of a hack on Pemex ignited last Sunday, the company confirmed a minor attack on its system.
Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex) admitted last Sunday that it had suffered a cyberattack that affected 5% of its operations.
After days of reports from the media regarding a possible attack on Pemex, the Mexican state-owned oil company stated that the hack had been neutralized and the company was operating with normality.
“On Sunday, November 10, the productive company of the state received cybernetic attacks that were neutralized timely, having an effect on at least 5% of the computer equipment,” said Pemex in a statement.
The company asked employees to not used their equipment until the randsomeware had been dealt with.
