English Español Peru: Primax, Shell roll out first EV charger

With the market still in very early stages, the two retailers have installed their first rapid charger.

Primax and Shell have opened their first electric vehicle at a service station in Peru.

The rapid charger, located in the district of San Isidro, will be able to charge up to 80% of a battery in 30 minutes.

“We must play an active role in the transformation process that mobility is undergoing across the world. Electromobility is a milestone in the transport era,” said Carlos Gonzales, CEO of Primax Corporation.

Martin Rueda, managing director for Shell Peru, agreed that using electricity to power vehicles will be key to the reduction of CO2 emissions.

The electric vehicle industry in Peru is still at very early stages with only 32 full EVs and 519 hybrids on the roads, according to Vehicle Association of Peru.
