Last update:

OMV Petrom and 7 environmental NGOs have completed a 71,000 tree planting campaign area of 13.5 hectares of land in Romania.

The campaign "Romania is planting for tomorrow" supports three objectives of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development: climate action, land life and partnerships for the achievement of objectives.

The largest planting campaign initiated by OMV Petrom "Romania is planting for tomorrow" ended on November 30 planting 71,000 seedlings.

Forests play an important role in the absorption and storage of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the atmosphere, which is why planting trees as a way of protecting and preserving forests is a key nature-based solution to prevent the risks of climate change.

In the next 3 years, the partner NGOs will ensure the maintenance of the planted areas. OMV Petrom will continue the initiative next year, in the spring, when it intends to exceed the number of seedlings planted this fall. Since 2008, over 700,000 trees have been planted in OMV Petrom campaigns.
