Hyundai car covers 778 km with a single charge of hydrogen
Bertrand Piccard sets a new world distance record for this kind of clean mobility.
French aeronaut and president of the Solar Impulse Foundation Bertrand Piccard has broken the world record for the longest distance travelled in a hydrogen-powered vehicle on a single refueling.
Bertrand Piccard drove through two countries – France and Luxembourg – with a hydrogen car, a standard Hyundai Nexo.
“The battery is an ideal solution for short journeys, whereas hydrogen is better suited for long journeys. Indeed, the range a hydrogen vehicle can achieve is one of its main advantages over battery vehicles, as I have just demonstrated with this record,” said Piccard.
Never before has a production car powered by a hydrogen fuel cell covered so many kilometres on a single charge.
