French oil and gas company Total has signed a partnership agreement with Vodafone Germany to power its fuel service stations with 5G. The first Total sites to operate the 5G are located in Dusseldorf and in Erfurt.

Specifically designed for business customers, the 'GigaCube 5G' receives 5G signals provided on site by Vodafone mobile network, which is then transferred to a smart network distributor instantly. The network capacity is divided into small, separate networks to enable the connection for individual digital services.

The fuel stations provide access to digital services while cash register terminals transmit data over the 5G network at up to 500 Mbps – ten times faster than a DSL connection.
