English Español Spain: Gas stations implement prevention measures at sites to stop COVID19

Oil companies are meeting the demand of its customers, and have contingency plans to ensure continuity of supply.

Big oil and gas companies in Spain announced they are serving its customers at their service stations through self-service mode, with the aim of preventing the spread of the Covid-19 virus among its customers, professionals and suppliers. In the case of store products, these will be sold over the counter.

These measures will remain in force for at least the next two weeks. In any case, their gas stations will continue to be open to ensure the supply of fuel, butane and propane bottles, and basic necessities.

"Our priority, at all times, is our employees and customers, to whom the company will continue to offer the energy solutions they need.For this reason, we have implemented this battery of measures and from Cepsa's management we are permanently monitoring the progress of the situation to ensure an adequate response to protect people's health, guarantee the energy supply and collaborate in stopping the spread of the virus," says Juan Antonio Vera, Cepsa's Operations Director.

Repsol notes that the recommendation of the health authorities is that all citizens should try to stay in their homes, although for those cases where it is necessary, the company guarantees the supply of fuel for essential journeys.

The companies assure to be in permanent coordination with the health authorities of the different countries where they operate since the beginning of the virus' propagation, following their indications to contribute to stop the virus' propagation and guarantee the energy supply.
