Convenience store chain QuikTrip is looking at opening 50 to 70 stores over the next five years as it closes in on its expansion plan in the Mile High City area.

Midwest-based convenience store chain QuikTrip is planning to open 50 to 70 stores in the Denver metropolitan area over the next five years as it closes in on its plan to expand to the Mile High City, reports The Denver Channel.

The company announced that its on the lookout for Denver-area general contractors to help with the construction of the new stores.

QuikTrip Denver-area stores will feature an average lot size of 2.5 acres each with a 4,800 square-foot store, according to the company. The stores are foreseen to begin opening early 2021, although their locations are to be announced yet.

QuikTrip announced its decision to expand into the Denver-area following opening requests on social media from Colorado customers. The city's recent population growth has also prompted the QuikTrip to venture into a new market, according to Mike Thornbrugh, a spokesperson for the company.

In business since 1960s, QuikTrip has grown to operate over 800 stores across 11 states.
