New player could become one of USA’s largest carwash operators

New carwash company ModWash plans to become one of largest carwash operators in United States in just three years with 100 locations in 15 states by the end of 2023.

A new carwash company called ModWash has been launched by Tennessee-based local real estate, development and investment firm Hutton, reports Chattanooga Times Free Press. With plans to become one of the largest carwash operators in just three years, ModWash envisages to open 100 locations in 15 states by the end of 2023.

The new car wash company is its own operating entity, and Hutton will own the land and building to lease to it. Hutton company owns 75% of ModWash, and Hans Weger, a Georgia former business consultant for Hutton, is the minority partner and CEO of ModWash.

The new carwash company is planning to open a dozen sites by the end of this year, and 30 more by the end of 2021, announced Hutton CEO, Karen Hutton.

Locations for this year are planned in South Carolina, Florida and New Jersey, according to ModWash Marketing Director, Elle Welch. About 100 people will be employed in the centres to be rolled out in the upcoming months.
ModWash has already opened its first location in Lexington, North Carolina, and another centre is close to completion in Thomasville, North Carolina, reports Chattanooga Times Free Press.

Each ModWash location will take about $3.5 million to $4 million to build, and the permitting and construction process around 14 months, according to Hutton CEO.

ModWash CEO said that if ModWash reaches 100 centres by 2023, that will place the company as one of the biggest car wash businesses in terms of size, although that’s not the main goal of ModWash. “The goal isn’t to be the biggest — it’s to be the best,” said Weger, who previously held key management posts at LaSalle Hotel Properties, Outrigger Enterprises Group and Focused Brands.
