Three major Japanese convenience store operators will test joint transport of confectionery and beverage products to their stores, reports The Jiji Press. The three companies are Seven-Eleven Japan Co., FamilyMart Co., and Lawson Inc.

From 1 to 7 August, products from the warehouses of each company will be gathered at a joint logistics centre located in Tokyo’s Koto Ward. The products will be then delivered using the same trucks to a total of 40 outlets owned by the three firms in the Tokyo Bay area.

In this test, the three convenience store chains expect to cut the number of trucks by 30% and improve loading per truck by around 20%.
