USA: ExxonMobil, Waze to offer contactless fuel payment

Waze app will display a notification for contactless payment through the Exxon Mobil Rewards+ app when drivers arrive in an Exxon or Mobil site.

Waze app will automatically display a notification for contactless payment through the Exxon Mobil Rewards+ app when drivers arrive in one of 11,500 Exxon or Mobil fuel stations across the United States, the companies announced.

The seamless integration of the driving and fueling experience aims to minimise time and contact with additional screens or PIN pads.

An arrival screen will pop up when the driver is at the Exxon site giving the driver the possibility to access the Exxon Mobil Rewards+ app to pay for the fuel. If the Exxon Mobil Rewards+ app is not installed, the Waze app integration will suggest to download it on the app store.

ExxonMobil was the first fuel provider to announce voice-activated fuel payment through Alexa-enabled vehicles or mobility devices.
