English Español German associations form the ‘eFuel Alliance’ to promote synthetic fuels

UNITI-Kraftstoff and and UNITI Bundesverband will promote the use of e-fuels to reduce the consumption of fossil fuels by lobbying from Berlin and Brussels.

Last update:

Under the slogan “A strong alliance for e-Fuels – climate-neutral liquid fuels”, German associations UNITI-Kraftstoff GmbH and UNITI Bundesverband mittelständischer Mineralölunternehmen e.V. (the federal association of medium-sized oil companies) have formed the ‘eFuel Alliance’.

The interest group will promote the use of climate-neutral liquid synthetic fuels to political decision-makers in Berlin and Brussels, lobbying for appropriate regulatory frameworks. The coalition is now the first point of contact for politicians, media representatives and the interested public on the subject of e-fuels via its own website, according to both players

Dr. Peter Seifried has been appointed Chairman of the initiative while Ole von Beust is the Managing Director. Seifried was Chairman of the Management Board of Shell Deutschland Oil GmbH until 2013 and has years of experience in supervisory bodies and associations. Von Beust, First Mayor of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg from 2001 to 2010, is today one of the managing partners of von Beust & Coll. consulting company.

The main focus is to include e-fuels in the revision of the EU regulation on CO2 fleet limits for passenger cars and light commercial vehicles planned for 2021. In 2022, it will be the case for trucks and heavy commercial vehicles. The liquid energy source will be able to increasingly replace conventional fossil fuels in transport, building and the chemical industry.

The eFuel Alliance will maintain offices in Berlin and Brussels and will thus be the point of contact for political decision-makers on the topic of e-fuels.
