English Español DISA close to seal Petrobras' acquisition in Uruguay

Spanish group DISA's bid was selected as the best offer to acquire Petrobras' 88 fuel stations in Uruguay.

Last update:

Grupo DISA, a Spanish energy company and first independent operator of fuel stations in Spain, could soon begin operating the Petrobras-owned fuel stations in Uruguay, reports El Observador.

Spanish group DISA's bid was recently selected from more than a dozen companies as the best offer to acquire the 88 fuel stations currently operated by Brazilian company Petrobras in Uruguay.

Although the closing of the sale has not been publicly announced by the companies, industry sources told El Observador that the deal is in its final stages and will be made official soon. According to the Argentinean site surtidores.com.ar, the takeover could be completed within 40 days.

Grupo DISA already registered 17 commercial product and services in Uruguay last June, according to the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mining. The trademarks included a loyalty card (Tu Club DISA), DISA Shop, DISA Eco, DISAMax, DISA Renovables, DISA Energy (natural gas commercialisation) and DISA Electrolinera.

The DISA Group is a comprehensive supplier of energy services in Spain with more than 600 fuel stations throughout the country, mostly in the Canary Islands. DISA's stations operate under both their own brand and the Shell flag.
