The operation would represent Carrefour's projected expansion over the next year and a half in Brazil.

Last update:

Brazil's Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE) has approved Carrefour's purchase of 14 gas stations and 30 stores (22 owned and 8 leased) from Makro in 17 states, according to a statement Carrefour submitted to the Brazilian regulator.

The acquisitions were publicly announced on February 16, and are still subject to compliance with certain requirements, such as the final agreement with the owners of the leased shops.

The 14 gas stations and 30 shops add up 165,000 square meters in sales area. The gross sales of these establishments last year amounted to approximately 2.8 billion Brazilian reals (450 million euros).

The operation would represent Carrefour's projected expansion over the next year and a half in Brazil, according to the Carrefour Brazil CEO, Noël Prioux.
