After participating in the tender held by the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda, the company was awarded the contracts for the upgrade and operation of five service areas (nine stations) on the AP7 and AP4 motorways – located in Seville, Castellon, Valencia and Tarragona.

ARTELIA SPAIN has supported ENI throughout the process from the very beginning, preparing the documentation for the tender, developing projects, managing national and municipal permits, coordinating and managing all their project suppliers, in addition to the supervision and management of works right through to the commissioning and operational phases.

In line with ENI's strategy and commitment to sustainability and the environment, ARTELIA SPAIN has incorporated new green energy services and improved accessibility, health, hygiene and energy saving conditions into the projects at the different stations.

To this end, the installation of new roofs with photovoltaic panels – 50 kWp per service area – will save a total of 340 MWh per year, equivalent to 164 tons of CO2, or around 6,400 trees. Moreover, the replacement of conventional lighting systems with LED technology will save 320 MWh per year, which in turn is equivalent to 154 tons of CO2, or around 6,000 trees.

As for the refuelling areas, an autonomous LPG unit has been installed with a pump to be operated on a self-service basis, with a remote control solution to register the volumes dispensed in the service station payment terminal.

Other services provided by ARTELIA SPAIN at these service stations are:

  • The installation of preferential areas for people with reduced mobility and families.
  • Solar thermal panels for the generation of sanitary hot water for the bathrooms.
  • Photocatalytic paint, the properties of which improve the environmental conditions at the stations and mitigate the impact of pollution from vehicles.
  • An electric vehicle recharging station.
  • A CNG/LNG refuelling station.

Repair and maintenance works has also been carried out at the stations, including the outdoor rest and recreation areas. Furthermore, work has been carried out on updating the company's brand image, which is reflected in the new products on offer in the catering areas.

The project is now in the permit granting phase, with site works expected to begin in April 2022 and to be completed before the summer of 2022.

We are very proud to have been able to work alongside ENI in this new venture and we are ready to take on new joint challenges together.
