English Español Westfalen Group upgrades stations into mobility hubs in Germany

The transformation process includes a redesign of the station as well as integrating new offerings such as a new store concept and an outdoor terrace for resting.

The Westfalen Group has the goal of developing its service stations into future-proof mobility hubs. As central contact points for people on the move, they combine alternative drive energies with a broader range of sustainable products and services.

Westfalen’s service stations in Bornheim, Baunatal and Moers have now completed the transition. With the new concept, the Münster-based company wants to become less dependent on fossil fuels and cater more specifically to the changing requirements of service station guests.

Revamping the network involves a modern appearance in the new design, which relies on materials with a wood and stone look as well as new store and food concept under the company's own brand Alvore. This includes a bistro serving hot meals with a local touch and a spacious seating area, with fresh convenience products and alternative snacks rounding out the wide range of offerings. In addition to the service station's indoor catering, an outdoor terrace with ample seating is available for guests to linger.

"We are all experiencing it very strongly these days that alternative drive energies are becoming increasingly important. In addition, attractive food and convenience offers, digital solutions and other services in particular are gaining in importance. With the conversion of our locations, we want to clearly distinguish ourselves from a classic service station," said Andre Stracke, Head of Mobility at Westfalen.

The transformation process will initially affect current service stations, with five more Westfalen locations to be converted into mobility hubs in the context of sustainability, digitization and a feel-good atmosphere.
