English Español Aral launches carbon offset program alongside EV drivers

The fuel retailer has implemented the possibility of trading in greenhouse gas quotas via e-mobility customers for at least 300 euros.

Last update:

Aral launches a carbon offset program alongside electric vehicle drivers. Customers can now have their CO2 savings certified and sell them annually to Aral for a premium via the firm's cooperation partner eGeld24.

By connecting with eGeld24, Aral offers its fleet customers a simple platform and fast payout solution. Since June 2022, EV owners can have their CO2 savings certified via eGeld24 and benefit from the bonus. All battery-electric cars and light commercial vehicles as well as e-buses are eligible for the GHG premium.

eGeld24 pays a guaranteed premium of currently 300 euros for EV, 450 euros for electric light commercial vehicles and 11,500 euros for e-buses. In the course of the year, holders of the Aral Fuel & Charge Card will also receive an integrated offer for GHG quota trading.

Owners of EV can  take advantage of the service by registering at the Aral or eGeld24 websites and upload their vehicle registration document. The company then submits the bundled applications to the Federal Environment Agency. Once the authority has certified the applications, the premium is transferred.

The premiums can then be paid out directly, since the cooperation means that there is no need to resell the GHG quota to another fuel distributor.
