Key CNG filling station to open in El Paso
AmpCNG has signed a lease to open a compressed natural gas (CNG) filling station in El Paso, the first of its kind in the region.
The project is a joint venture between ampCNG and Trillium CNG. According to the companies, the new CNG station will fill a gap in an 800-mile stretch of highway, between Kerrville, Texas, and Tucson, Arizona, where trucks and other CNG-powered vehicles have not had any public stations to fill-up.
The thing about El Paso is it is the last remaining link, east-west, on Interstate 10,” said ampCNG senior vice president Grant Zimmerman, reported El Paso Inc.
Chicago-based AmpCNG are building a number of gas stations and are currently in a moment of expansion.
The CNG station will open in the coming months and will have up to three natural gas dispensers.
“It’s a nascent and growing market. We believe the potential for CNG to power over-the-road trucking is only beginning to be realized,” added Zimmerman.
