According to a company release, the purchase will enable the Swiss distributor to further strengthen its position as a wholesaler and specialist for on-the-go consumption in Switzerland.

Lekkerland, a subsidiary of Brunegg-based Lekkerland Group, currently provides support to more than 1,600 gas and service stations, railway station shops, and convenience stores by supplying food and non-food products and offering logistics and consultancy services.

“The wholesale activities of Contadis in Switzerland effectively complement our company,” said Michael Hoffmann, CEO of Lekkerland AG & Co. KG.

Contadis supplies convenience and tobacco products to a total of 2,500 customers such as convenience stores, kiosks, tobacco shops, and a few large clients.

““The sale of Contadis AG’s wholesale activities represents another major step in the strategy of focusing on the core business of cigars and smokers' accessories, plus general agencies and retail,” said Hans-Kristian Hoejsgaard, CEO of Oettinger Davidoff AG.

The completion of transaction is still subject to the Swiss Competition Commission's approval and the takeover is scheduled for February 01, 2016.

Contadis, in the meantime, will continue running the wholesale activity on behalf of Lekkerland until the transaction has been completed, which is planned for June 2016.
