Big Y moves deeper into fuel retail with 3 new acquisitions

Big Y Foods Inc. will be expanding its Big Y Express Gas and Convenience chain with the acquisition of three O'Connell Convenience Plus gas stations in Massachusetts.

The three O´Connell gas stations operate under the Shell brand. Big Y informed it expects to be operating the stations by late January, and they will have be converted into the Big Y Express brand through the winter period, reported Mass Live.

Big Y, which owned 63 supermarkets throughout Connecticut and Massachusetts, has located most of its convenience stores near or adjacent to one of their large supermarkets.

O´Connell Oil Associates owns and operates three oil company locations, 26 Convenience Plus Stores and seven gas stations in Western Massachusetts.

All employees from the three stores will be able to apply and interview with Big Y, the company has said.
