Thai government to open 148 tourism shops in PTT gas stations

Thailand's government and fuel retailer PTT have signed an agreement to install 148 tourism information centers in PTT gas stations across the country.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), the Office of Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion (OSMEP), the Small and Medium Enterprise Development Bank of Thailand (SME Bank), the Department of Community Development and PTT Public Company Limited have signed the memorandum.

The shops intend to maximize the benefits of tourism and improve local services around the country, reported Travel Daily Asia.

“We are committed to help materialise this wonderful project for the benefit and well-being of the Thai people through financial support on establishing the 148 shops, public relations activities, and facilitation of tourist information as well as conduct training for the shop assistants,” said Dr Yuthasak Supasorn, governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT).

PTT will allocate the 148 tourism centers in its premises for free during the first three years. The firstsin formation centers and local goods stores are expected to open in April 2016.
