UK: Spar appoints new Chief Information Officer

Spar UK has appointed Jackie Mackenzie to the brand new role of chief information Officer (CIO) at its Central Office in Harrow.

Mackenzie will take up her role as CIO at Spar on 14 March. This new role will be at board level, and will see Mackenzie contribute to Spar’s future direction and financial management, helping to grow wholesalers’ and retailers’ profits.

As CIO, Mackenzie will be responsible for implementing and reporting Spar financial accounts, management information, supply chain and technology operations.

“I am delighted to be joining the team at Spar. As the UK’s leading symbol group, Spar has a great future ahead, and I am looking forward to the exciting challenges this new role will bring,” said Mackenzie.

Mackenzie joins Spar from Morrisons where she held the position of director of category development, and then operations development director for trading. Prior to this she was a general manager at Asda. She spent the early part of her career at management consultancy McKinsey & Co. Mackenzie. She is an Oxford graduate, and has a MBA from Harvard Business School.

Spar also confirmed that current finance director Richard Hill will step down from his position and take up the role of finance controller.
