‘True Zero’ represents its objective of zero carbon emissions through the use of alternative energy such as fuel-cell cars and hydrogen fuelling infrastructure, according to greencarreports.com.

One of the First Element’s suppliers uses biomethane to produce hydrogen and most hydrogen fuel come from nearby production sites to avoid further carbon emissions from truck transport.

The 15 ‘True Zero’ filling stations are present in California, specifically in Silicon Valley, the greater Los Angeles Area, and Harris Ranch in the San Joaquin Valley.

The stations are being funded mainly by the California Energy Commission, the South Coast Air Quality Management District (AQMD), and the Bay Area AQMD.

They also received loans from carmakers Toyota and Honda, which are keen in investing in fuel-cell vehicles and infrastructure.
