The acquisition of My Local convenience stores in Croydon, Nottingham, Widnes, Blackpool, Stockport, and Steeton is part of Co-op’s plan to purchase 100 stores in 2016, reported retailgazette.co.uk.

“(It) supports our focus on convenience store retailing and adds to a portfolio that offers the right range in the right location,” said Co-op chief executive Steve Murrells.

Another My Local store, located in Whitstable High Street, was sold to restaurant and convenience store chain Eat 17, according to Canterbury Times.

The staff of acquired My Local stores will be taken in by the two companies while employees of other stores are welcome to work at My Local’s previous owner Morrisons.
