According to The Irish Times, Applegreen selected the site on the M42 near Birmingham for the proposed roadside station to address highway safety needs in the area.

If the project pushes through, 300 jobs are expected to be created. The company also assures that no ancient woodland will be lost and new trees will be planted.

Upgrading of existing stations and expansion in Ireland and the UK are also expected to accelerate following the company’s successful IPO in June 2015, which raised more than €90 million on the Irish and London stock exchanges. Likewise, revenues increased by 15 percent to €1 billion.

The company so far has added four new sites this year and has launched petrol stations in Long Island, New York.
