Thai PTT to let farmers sell rice at petrol stations
Thai state-owned oil and gas company PTT Public Company will allow rice farmers to sell their produce at its petrol stations free of charge, reports Thai Public Broadcasting Service.
Such move would help farmers and the Thai government address weak rice prices, according to PTT CEO and President Thewin Wongwanich.
With PTT’s network of more than 1,180 petrol stations nationwide, small rice farmers can sell directly to local consumers.
And to further show support, PTT will also buy rice to be given as New Year’s gift.
Farmers who are interested to participate in the program are requested to contact PTT petrol stations in their respective provinces.
