Nikola Motor to build 364 hydrogen stations

Trucking start-up Nikola Motor Co. will build a network of 364 hydrogen fuelling stations to support its own fuel cell electric semi-truck.

The biggest boost to the hydrogen fueling industry in the United States could come from trucking company Nikola Motor Co. After announcing the development of the Nikola One hydrogen fuel cell electric semi-truck, the Salt Lake City has described its plans the construction of 364 hydrogen refuelling stations.

Nikola will start building the new stations in January 2018, with the sites expected to be operating by late 2019, according to Trevor Milton, Nikola´s chief executive. The stations will be available to other fuel cell vehicles.

The Nikola One utilizes a fully electric drivetrain powered by high-density lithium batteries. Energy will be supplied on-the-go by a hydrogen fuel cell giving the Nikola One a range of 800 - 1,200 miles while delivering over 1,000 horsepower and 2,000 ft. lbs. of torque
