Wheelys brings unmanned, app-powered c-store to China
Wheelys, a startup chain of mobile cafés and shops, is launching a staffless convenience store in Shanghai.
Wheelys 247 is described as a "physical store in the app" because it only requires customers to access, purchase, and pay at the store using their smartphones.
The store is also equipped with video cameras to deter theft, reports techcrunch.
“Some of the giants, like Amazon are trying to follow in Wheelys 247 footsteps, but our system is much more versatile, as it follows the Wheelys credo to empower entrepreneurs, letting anyone open a physical, staff less, app-powered store,” said Maria De La Croix, CEO Wheelys.
