Romania: First Auchan c-stores to open at Petrom stations

Auchan Retail Romania, subsidiary of global retail giant Auchan Retail, will roll out its first convenience store format at OMV Petrom fuel stations in Romania, according to a company release.

OMV Petrom, the largest oil and gas producer in Southeastern Europe, has signed an agreement with Auchan Retail Romania to open 15 convenience stores in Bucharest and across the country by end of 2017.

The stores will operate under MyAuchan brand with the first outlet set to be inaugurated in May.

MyAuchan stores, depending on the size of the station, will offer up to 4,500 products including food, fresh produce, cosmetics, baby products, and car accessories.

"This initiative is a step forward in implementing the OMV Petrom Strategy update 2021+, which focuses on enhancing offer and customer experience," said Mariana Gheorghe, OMV Petrom CEO.

Ionuț Ardeleanu, General Manager of Auchan Retail Romania, explained that "this large-scale cooperation, which will start with a calibration pilot, is part of the Auchan ambition to become a multiformat retail company in Romania."
