South Korea: Police, c-store chain tap emergency touchscreen for security

The Korean National Police (KNPA) and CU convenience store chain have partnered to launch an emergency touchscreen system. The system aims to address security concerns particularly after the fatal stabbing incident involving a c-store staff last year, reports The Korea Bizwire.

More than 10,000 stores will be equipped with an emergy touchscreen by end of 2017.

The system appears to be the best way for police response. In the event of a crime, it is easier and faster for shoppers and c-store staff to touch the screen instead of calling or texting the police.

CCTV cameras and stronger glass walls are also being considered by KNPA and CU as part of the plan to improve security and safety in convenience stores.
