Irving Oil to open $8mn station along TransCanada Highway

Canadian company Irving Oil will invest CAD 8 million (USD 5.84 million) to build a bigger and newer Goobies Big Stop located along the TransCanada Highway.

The new service station will have eight fueling positions, three diesel fueling lanes, a 115-seat restaurant, and a larger convenience store, according to a company release.

Construction has already started beginning late April and is expected to finish late fall.

The original Goobies Big Stop has served customers since 1970. Its reconstruction is part of the company's multi-year plan to invest more than CAD 50 million in Newfoundland and Labrador.

“We’re going to continue to invest in Newfoundland and Labrador and make the investments necessary to continue as the retail destination of choice for the travelling public,” said Darren Gillis, General Manager, Sales & Marketing Operations.

Irving Oil serves wholesale, commercial, and retail customers in Atlantic Canada, Quebec, New England, and Ireland. It operates Canada's largest refinery, Ireland's sole refinery, and more than 900 fueling locations.
