ENOC’s new petrol stations to get energy from the sun
All future petrol stations operated by the Emirates National Oil Corporation (ENOC) will be powered by solar energy. The announcement was made during the Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX) 2017 currently held in Dubai.
Forty eight new petrol stations equipped with solar panels will be added to ENOC’s chain of stations by 2020, reports The National.
The solar panels are expected to generate more than 23 GWh of energy, helping the stations save power of the national grid.
In addition, the initiative is in line with the United Arab Emirates’ (UAE) long-term energy plan of combining renewable, nuclear, and clean energy to meet environmental and economic objectives.
Earlier this year, ENOC launched the first solar-powered petrol station in the UAE.
