PV Oil to distribute E5 fuel across all its stations by 2018

Vietnamese fuel retailer PV Oil is considering a nationwide switch from RON A92 petrol to bio-fuel E5 from January 1, 2018.

Last update:

After increasing the use of E5 across its fuelling network, PetroVietnam Oil Corporation (PV Oil) is willing to provide technical support to its distributors to make the complete switch from RON A92 to E5, which has 5% of ethanol.

PV Oil first introduced E5 in 2010 as part of a pilot program. After December 2014, the fuel type was rolled out at various stations and started getting brand recognition among Vietnamese drivers, reports Vietnamnet.vn.

The Ministry of Industry and Tarde (MoIT) calculated that to end the use of RON A92 be early 2018 and make the switch to E5, the country will need about 5.5 million cubic metres of E5 fuel. This means producing 250,000-270,000 tonnes of ethanol E100 as raw material for bio-fuel blending.

Currently Vietnam has four ethanol E100 processing factories manufactured by Tung Lam Co., Ltd. with a total annual capacity of 200 million litres of ethanol, which is enough to blend of 3.9 million cubic metres of E5 bio-fuel.
