Guinness World Records finds world’s longest car wash in Texas

Buc-ee’s giant car wash at its Katy travel centre has been officially recognized by the Guinness World Records as the world’s longest.

Last update:

On Thursday, a representative from the UK-based Guinness Worlds Records presented Buc-ee's co-founder Arch "Beaver" Aplin with the certificate acknowledging the nearly football-field long car wash.

The Texas car wash has a 255-foot-long (78 metres) conveyor belt as well was a state-of-the art vacuum station and 21 blowers.

The Buc-ee’s location, which also includes an impressive 120 gas pumps, opened last August proclaiming itself as the “longest car wash in America.”

Arch Aplin explained that the car wash can clean about 1,500 vehicles a day. After being treated with cleaning solution, each car will pass along 25 separate rolling brushes while being pulled along the conveyor belt. Because of its length and the number of brushes, they are able to use less water to clean the cars than at smaller operations, said Aplin.

Buc-ee's is a chain of convenience stores located in across Texas.

Good to know this improvement on car washing. Want to commence car wash business in Ghana but certainly not of this magnitude. Congrats to them.
