Deutsche Bahn unit clinches Shell Australia logistics contract

DB Schenker, the logistics arm of German rail operator Deutsche Bahn, has secured a five-year contract to provide freight forwarding and customs clearance services to Shell Australia.

DB Schenker will tap its global network of Oil and Gas offices specialized to the unique logistics service requirements of the industry, according to a company release.

The operations team in Brisbane, Darwin, and Perth will be supported by its DB Schenker iTeams software solution that allows for full visibility and tracking through all stages of the logistics cycle.

“We are proud to continue our global relationship with Shell in Australia to supply both QGC (Queensland Gas Company) in Queensland and the Prelude FLNG (Floating Liquified Natural Gas) facility in Western Australia with international freight and customs clearance services,” said Frank Vogel, Director Projects – Oil & Gas, Australia/New Zealand.

DB Schenker has eight freight forwarding operations and 25 logistic sites in Australia and New Zealand. It offers supply chain solutions for electronics, industrial, chemical, automotive, healthcare, consumer, aero parts, projects, and oil & gas transportation.
