Service stations have until yesterday, January 31, to comply with the new law that obliges service stations to display only the full fuel prices.

The policy is a victory for consumers, according to a news release by the Royal Automobile Club of Queensland (RACQ).

“Queensland motorists will now be able to make informed decisions thanks to this ‘what you see is what you get’ way of pricing,” RACQ spokesperson Paul Turner said.

RACQ campaigned for five years against “misleading and incredibly frustrating” practice of displaying discounted fuel prices.

“Now we need to see the Queensland Government commit to delivering transparent reporting of petrol prices with real-time data, to ensure motorists know where they should fill up and which retailers to avoid,” Turner added.
