BP and TOTAL have agreed to mutual recognition of their respective fuel cards in Europe. With this agreement, which will be implemented gradually throughout 2018, TOTAL will accept the BP and Aral fuel cards at its service stations in France, Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland and Germany.

In return, drivers with a TOTAL fuel card will be able to be use it at BP and Aral petrol stations in Germany, Great Britain, Austria, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Poland. This means that holders of any of those cards will now access a further 4,000 petrol stations across Europe.

"Increasing the acceptance of our fuel cards means that our customers now have access to more than 22,000 service stations in 29 countries. They also have the ability to use their fuel card data-based fleet management support, "said Guy Moeyens, BP Chief Operating Officer Fuels, Europe & Southern Africa.

The announcement is bound to strengthen the position of all brands involved and could have an effect on other major European fuel retailers.

"By expanding the network of stations where our fuel card is accepted, we can better meet the needs of our business customers. This agreement is an ideal complement to our map offering in Europe, "said Benoît LUC, Total M & S Senior Vice President for Europe.
