The initiative will more than double the number of EV charging stations at Walmart US stores and will bring the company's total number of charging units to well over 1,000.

The Electrify America charging systems at Walmart will offer the first-ever certified cooled-cable 150 to 350kW DC Fast Chargers with a CHAdeMO1 connector, plus additional dual-handle dispensers with CCS1 connectors.

Several of the new units will feature super-fast chargers that can charge an electric car in between 10 to 30 minutes.

“Along with providing our customers with an enhanced shopping experience through added convenience, this initiative also allows us to contribute to the expansion of our nation’s EV charging station infrastructure,” said Mark Vanderhelm, Vice President of Energy for Walmart.

The EV infrastructure expansion, developments in its greenhouse gas emission-reduction initiative Project Gigaton, and investments in renewable energy were presented at the company’s recently concluded Sustainability Milestone Summit.
