Germany: OMV to install EV ultra-fast chargers at 100 stations
International oil and gas distributor OMV will invest in electric vehicle charging across Southern Germany.
OMV has partnered with EnBW, one of the leading energy providers in Germany, to install ultra-fast EV chargers at 100 stations in the country’s South.
The agreement between the Austrian retailer and the German energy supplier will see around 100 petrol stations equipped with high-performance chargers by the end of 2019.
The cooperation is a major step in the expansion of the fast-charging infrastructure in Germany, especially in urban areas belonging to the regions of Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg, where there are a significant number of EV drivers.
OMV Germany has over 300 service stations nationwide, more than 220 of them in Bavaria, as well as further stations in Baden-Württemberg and Hesse.
The cooperation is another step forward for EnBW to achieve market leadership in fast-charging continues, by 2020 the company hopes to operate more than 1,000 fast-charging systems in Germany.
