The new generation of petrol stations, according to a Daily Sabah report, will offer liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), liquefied natural gas (LNG), compressed natural gas (CNG) as well as non-fuel services such as electric vehicle chargers, convenience stores, café, and free Wi-Fi.

Described as ‘energy markets’, Turkey’s new format of petrol station is set to be launched in September, with approximately 6,000 stations expected to be converted in five years, said Fesih Aktaş, president of Employers Union of Energy Petroleum Gas Supply Stations (EPGİS).

Aktaş also predicted that “fossil fuels will be replaced by other types of energy in 10 years”, hence the need to offer diverse energy sources.

He also noted that rooftop solar panels installed on these gas stations may also be used to generate energy for electric charging stations.
