The project, which aims to save energy and cut carbon emissions, will deploy Toyota Mirai fuel cell trucks for deliveries and install stationary hydrogen-powered fuel cell generators, rechargeable batteries, solar panels, and electric vehicle chargers for store operations.

The ‘green’ convenience store is in line with the objectives of Seven & i Group, parent company of 7-Eleven stores in Japan, to increase renewable energy use to 20 percent and reduce carbon emissions by 27 percent.

Performance, costs, durability, and CO2 reduction effects will be evaluated with the aim of promoting further deployment, said the company.
