Snam, api to develop 200 natgas stations in Italy
Gas utility Snam and Italian oil company api have partnered to develop approximately 200 new natural gas and biomethane fuelling stations within the IP retail fuel station network in Italy.
Snam and api will identify existing IP petrol stations where facilities for compressed natural gas (CNG) and possible liquefied natural gas (LNG) will be installed. The first 30 stations will be commissioned early 2019.
The partnership meets similar objectives of the companies to establish an efficient national infrastructure for alternative fuels. It also aims to promote sustainable mobility in Italy, which will benefit both the environment and consumers.
Italy is the leading European market for natural gas consumption for vehicles, with over 1 million existing vehicles using CNG.
