Ireland: Lidl to rollout EV charging infrastructure

Lidl Ireland could soon have a large network of electric vehicle charging stations after committing to promote the alternative fuel.

Last update:

Lidl Ireland has pledged to rollout the largest network of EV charging points in the Irish supermarket sector. The discount supermarket chain has committed to equip all new stores and major refurbishment projects with charging technology.

The rollout will see 40 EV charging facilities installed in 20 stores across Ireland in the next six months. Irish drivers will be able to use the 22kWh chargers at no cost while they shop, reports eddie.net.

“With more and more customers shopping with us every week, we hope that the expansion of the network of public charge points will make EVs more attractive to customers whilst further enhancing our customer experience,” said Alan Barry, Lidl Ireland's property director.

The company is investing more than €150m in the infrastructure project.
