British fuelling company EG Group has appointed Jay Erickson as president of convenience stores for EG America. He will head a national network of 1,000 petrol stations and convenience stores across 23 states in U.S.

Erickson has nearly 30 years of experiences in convenience store operations, marketing, merchandising and strategy. In his new role, he will report to Mohsin Issa, founder and co-CEO of EG Group.

“We are delighted to have appointed Jay Erickson to lead the strategic development and retail operations in the USA. I am committed to facilitate the establishment of an effective management team to support both Jay in his new role and our US expansion plans,” said Issa.

EG Group is building a strong player in the convenience and fuel retailing market through major acquisitions involving Kroger’s c-store business and more recently, Minit Mart.

“The EG Group owners and senior leadership are committed to investing in US convenience store assets as seen by the Minit Mart acquisition, procurement of new-to-industry development plots, engaging brand partners, commitment to invest in people, systems and stores,” explained Erickson.

At the end of September, EG Group acquired Minit Mart’s 225 stores for more than $300 million.
