Sinopec opens first gas station outside of China

Asia's largest oil refiner China Petroleum & Chemical Corp, or Sinopec, has opened its first overseas petrol station in Singapore.

Last update:

As part of its overseas expansion plans, the Chinese oil company has opened a site in Yishun Avenue 1, Singapore, as announced on Twitter on Tuesday.

“Considering the characteristic of consumer behaviour, the maiden overseas station of Sinopec provides SINO X Power gasoline with features of greater fuel-efficiency, stronger driving force and better engine cleaning ability for local customers,” said the statement on Twitter.

A second filling station in Singapore located in the Bukit Timah Road is already under construction.

In January 2018 the Chinese oil giant got the green light to acquire Chevron’s business in South Africa, which included a network of 820 sites, although the deal stalled shortly after.
