Rutter's c-stores look at gaming after Pennsylvania law changes
U.S. convenice store and gas station operator is looking to expand its services with the addition of video gaming to some of its locations.
The York-based retailer filed applications with the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board to install video gaming terminals to some 20 convenience stores, reports ABC27 News.
Changes made last year to the Pennsylvania law allows truck stops to add up to five video gaming terminals as long as the met certain criteria. The locations must be equipped with diesel islands; have sold an average of 50,000 gallons a month for the last year; offer a minimum of 20 parking spaces dedicated to commercial vehicles; include a convenience store, be a Pennsylvania Lottery sales agent; and be located in a parcel of more than three acres.
“We have approved 23 truck stop locations throughout the state, though any launch of those is still out until at least the first quarter of 2019,” said Dough Harbach, gaming board spokesman.
Rutter's operates more than 70 convenience stores.
