DIBt is the German approval body for non-regulated construction products and types of construction. As a provider of services and public functions, DIBt fulfils a large range of technical and regulatory tasks in the field of construction.

DIBt has approximately 200 members off staff and is divided into five divisions. It is headed by the President, Mr Gerhard Breitschaft.

Deutsches Institut für Bautechnik is a member of EOTA (European Organisation for Technical Assessment) and other important national and international organisations.
