Tokyo Gas to open first hydrogen station; makes inroads into LNG business in Vietnam

Tokyo Gas. Co. and PetroVietnam Gas have signed an accord in mid-December for collaboration with “the aim of LNG value chain development in Vietnam”, Tokyo Gas said. Separately, Tokyo Gas will soon open its first hydrogen filling station, according to local reports.

Last update:

Tokyo Gas and PetroVietnam have discovered the potential for “LNG satellite provision to bring LNG to areas not served by gas pipelines” and decided to go forward into a second stage of a plan which involves feasibility studies for a potential LNG distribution network to make the fuel widely available, Tokyo Gas said in a press release. The accord was signed on December 12, it said.

As for the hydrogen filling station, Tokyo Gas  “unveiled” a filling station in Nerima Ward, Tokyo, to coincide with the release last week of Toyota Motor Corp.’s first fuel cell vehicle, according to a report published December 18 on The Japan Times news. The actual opening of the station depends on when Toyota starts delivering the Mirai and prices for that fuel have yet to be set.

The hydrogen station was built on the site of an existing compressed natural gas station The Japan Times News and other local media said.
