Germany’s South Baden to see 50 new EV stations by mid-2015

A total of 50 new charging stations for electric vehicles will be operating by mid-2015 in the South Baden region of Germany, said in December Swarco, an Austrian-based company which installs EV charging stations and is working in the project.

Last update:

The network installation is aimed at all users of electric vehicles but will also support a car sharing initiative named “my-e-car” sponsored by the company in partnership with regional authorities, the company published.

The company said the electric stations will be “similar to conventional fuel stations” with payment possible by credit card and Near Field Communications, or mobile technology which is supported by smart phones.

Each station will have two charging points and electricity will be supplied from a hydroelectric local plant, it added.
