BG, BP, Eni, Royal Dutch Shell, Statoil and Total call for ‘carbon pricing’
Major oil and gas companies, BG Group, BP, Eni, Royal Dutch Shell, Statoil ASA and Total SA jointly announced on June 1 “their call” to countries to adopt a carbon pricing system.
“With this unprecedented joint initiative, the companies recognize both the importance of the climate challenge and the importance of energy to human life and well-being,” according to a release by BG which was one of the companies making the announcement, as reported in a website of an organization representing the industry.
Helge Lund, from BG; Bob Dudley, from BP; Claudio Descalzi, from Eni; Ben van Beurden, from Royal Dutch Shell; Eldar Satre, from Statoil; and Patrick Pouyanné, from Total, have also sent letters to different media with the same message.
