BP plans to inaugurate 40 fuel stations in Turkey in next six months

BP Turkey will inaugurate as many as 40 filling stations in Turkey this year, the company manager, Martin Thomsen, said in a June 26 joint press conference with Doğuş Automotive where both companies announced a combined campaign, online media Hurriyetdailynews reported.

“Due to the loss in the Turkish Lira’s value and the state intervention in fuel prices, we have been lagging behind our targets and making losses now. We have, however, been sticking to our growth strategy. In parallel to this strategy, we plan to open 40 new fuel stations in Turkey,” he was quoted as saying by Hurriyetdailynews.

The number will expand the 647 fuel stations that BP Turkey already has in Turkey, which represents nearly 10% of that market, according to the report.

Doğuş Automotive, one of the biggest importer of automobiles in Turkey, will invest an amount which represents the cost of building some eight news stations, according to the report. The deal will allow its automotive customers to get a discount of about 3% of all fuel bought, it added.
